Casita Coalition business members include ADU professionals of all kinds - planners, lenders, engineers, architects and builders of ADUs using every type of construction system currently in use. We have ADU builders using stick-built on-site construction, 3D printers, prefab off-site builders of all types, plus new and proprietary systems and hybrid forms.

But did you know that our members also leverage their expertise in small home construction to build shelter homes suitable for rapid deployment villages for the unhoused?

Governor Gavin Newsom recently announced a state investment of $30 million to build 1,200 small homes for the unhoused across California, a step in the right direction that will help some of the state’s most vulnerable residents. When Casita Coalition staff heard the news, we put out a call to our members for letters of interest and put together a proposal for the governor’s office, encouraging him to “build and buy Californian” for the tiny homes project. These California-based companies are making a big difference by lowering construction costs and timelines, making it even easier to deliver housing to the communities that need it most. We were just informed that our packet was sent on to the state office of procurement in charge of this initiative to provide homes for California’s most vulnerable residents.

Here’s a roundup of the amazing small homes Casita members are proposing for this special purpose housing:
