Accessory dwelling units: a housing success story

The excitement around California’s accessory dwelling unit revolution is heard in the news every day as people around the country seek answers for the growing housing crisis. Representing nearly 20% of all new homes in California (more than 30% in Los Angeles), ADUs are the state’s fastest growing housing type, embraced by homeowners and policymakers alike. Casita Academy removes barriers to ADU training, so more professionals can get started with ADUs and more families can benefit from these flexible, naturally more affordable homes.

ADU Principles for California course is enrolling cohorts now!

We believe everyone should have access to ADU information. Working with our experienced instructors who provide context and real world applications for the material covered, the course provides participants with the essentials of ADU learning, including:

  • What can be built under current California ADU law on single family and multifamily properties: how many ADUs per lot, what type & size

  • How to understand local ADU ordinances and how they apply to your property

  • How to maximize potential for ADU development on your property and identify the best solutions for you or your clients

ADU Principles for California

ADU Principles for California takes participants through the rules and processes that govern the development of Accessory Dwelling Units. With a combination of self-paced online learning and live instruction, the course provides a grounding in the fundamentals of this exciting new form of housing.
